Mia Wasikowska as Alice Griffiths
Alice Geraldine Longbottom (neé Griffiths) is a canon character from the Harry Potter books. She was a Gryffindor student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1969 to 1977, and a good friend of Lily Evans.
In the summer of 1977 she married Frank Longbottom, her high school boyfriend of five years. They are both currently training to become Aurors, with Alastor 'Mad-eye' Moody as their coach.
Description
Alice is described as a curly haired blonde, with a sweet, round face and pale skin. During her break with Frank she tries out a new look, straightening and lightening her hair and wearing makeup occasionally. It is implied that before this, she rarely wore make up or tamed her hair.
Alice is kind, Lily describes her as "someone people admire", Carlotta as "the girl next door type" and Frank as "perfect". It is implied that she does not have many enemies, most likely due to her sweet, kind and endearing nature.
Alice is also a surprisingly strong character. She always stands up for what she believes in, no matter the risks, and prevents younger students from being bullied. She is intelligent, ambitious and hard working.
Relationships
Alice and Frank have been dating since third year, when they went on their first Hogsmeade trip, together. In other students eyes, they seem to be the perfect couple—but in chapter four (Snaps and the Second Week) it's revealed that the two of them have relationship problems. Later on in the story, it is revealed that Frank had been unfaithful, kissing Carlotta Meloni on two seperate occasions. Alice and Franks relationship ends for a short period of time, but eventually Alice forgives him, and they reconcile in March of their seventh year at Hogwarts.
When Alice and Frank graduate from Hogwarts, they immediately start their Auror training. After realising just how dangerous this job is, and how risky their lives have become, Frank proposes and the two of them get married, all in one day ("Old, New, Ballroom and Blue"). Lily is a bridesmaid. The Marauders, Sam Dearborn and a few others are the only ones present.
Alice Longbottom and Lily Evans are very dear friends, although the latter is a year younger. Besides Lily, Hestia Clearwater—Alice's roommate— is also a good friend of hers.
Alice has a brief fling with Sirius Black, however they do not go further than flirting.
No further information about Alice's family is revealed, other than a younger brother, whom Lily briefly meets at Hogwarts, in chapter five ("The Shape of Things to Come").
After "The Life and Times"
Alice Longbottom gets tortured to insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange, along with her husband, Frank Longbottom, leaving their one-year-old son, Neville Longbottom, to his grandmother. Although still alive, Alice and Frank are left permanently in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
